A creative flair, an eye for detail and excellent dexterity are just a few of the qualities of today’s top nail technology experts. These professionals work in salons, spas, hotels and on cruise ships helping men and women maintain beautiful hands and feet. And given the popularity of professional nail treatments, the demand for trained nail technology professionals is expected to rise-- creating plenty of employment opportunities for nail tech school graduates for many years to come!
Are you always on top of the latest hair and makeup trends? Or, better yet, are you trying to start trends of your own?
If so, you’ve probably considered attending a cosmetology academy in Pennsylvania and starting a career in the exciting beauty industry.
Cosmetology schools prepare students for careers in hairstyling, makeup, skin care and manicuring. Typically, training is broken down into three distinct areas:
Theatrical makeup artists have a very exciting job. One day, they may be using rubber prosthesis to turn an actor into a terrifying zombie, while the next day, applying makeup to transform a group of actors and actresses into Victorian-era society members.
Do you enjoy colors, fashion and experimenting with new looks? If so, you may have what it takes to begin an exciting career in makeup. Makeup artists work in salons and spas, as well as in the TV, entertainment and fashion industries. Depending on what type of makeup artistry you’re most interested in, you may find yourself helping brides get ready for their big day, creating special effects makeup for Hollywood movies or working as a personal makeup artist for a celebrity. Not to mention, you’ll be able to give yourself a professional makeup application whenever you'd like!
Ask Jolie Academy cosmetology instructor Monica Richendrfer what she thinks are the most important things to look for in a cosmetology school, and she'll tell you the following: excitement, passion, clean work areas and motivated students.
And when she talks about passion, she's referring not just to the engagement of the students, but to the instructors, as well. "It's very important to ensure the school has a passionate staff," Richendrfer said.
