The skin care specialty program at Jolie Academy in Cherry Hill, Northfield and Turnersville, New Jersey prepares students for their future careers in the industry. “We teach what is relevant in today’s beauty business,” Jolie Academy instructor Miss Monica said. “Beauty school students learn how to give facials, how to give a skin care consultation, how to read product ingredients and about skin care treatments such as chemical peels and microdermabrasion.”
Students enrolled in the skin care speciality program also learn about:
- State laws and regulations
- Skin chemistry
- Skin structure and function
- Common skin disorders
- Skin anatomy and physiology
- Makeup techniques and corrective makeup
- Business and job skills
In addition to classroom instruction, hands-on practice plays a big part of the beauty school education at Jolie Academy. In fact, students in the skin care specialty program will spend half of their training hours engaged in hands-on training methods! Students start off by practicing their techniques on mannequins and each other before moving on to working on clients in the student clinic. The clinic operates as a professional salon, booking appointments with clients for hair, nail and skin care services. It is here where students get the real-world experience of working in a salon while benefiting from the guidance of their skilled beauty school instructors.
Creating Skin Esthetics Professionals
The goal of the skin care speciality program at Jolie Academy is to create highly trained skin care professionals who are capable of building rewarding careers for themselves after beauty school. To that end, we aim to give our students all of the knowledge and support we can, both through state board exam preparation and then through resume writing help, interviewing skills and job search support. Many esthetics instructors are also more than happy to give written recommendations upon request.
